Skaters will be performing in two April 6 shows at the Kinsmen Memorial Arena at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. – a better fit for younger skaters than traditional afternoon and evening shows. Tickets are $20 adults, $10 for children (6-16) cash at the door. Doors open one hour before each show.

‘Swifties’ will recognize songs from every album, and not just chart toppers like Bad Blood or You Belong With Me.

“We’re using a lot of the popular ones,” said TSC coach Erin Scherrer. “But also finding some of the more obscure ones. There’s some stuff that I haven’t really heard that we picked, like My Tears Ricochet or Willow. There’s just so much…”

“Basically we start from the very beginning, other than the opening number, with her Taylor Swift 2006 album – she was still country at that point – and we go through her timeline of albums to her last album, Midnights, with Anti-Hero,” said coach Penny Jelsma.

The opening number will include a variety of songs from Swift’s Reputation album, bringing together some of the club’s younger and older skaters.

“She is trendy right now,” said Scherrer. “I choreograph the Shake It Off number and we’re having a blast doing it. The little girls love it. They practise it off the ice and they know all the words and all the dances.”

“I think she’s popular right now,” Jelsma nodded. “She keeps producing a variety of different music, it’s really easy to skate to, and the kids can relate to her music. And her music sounds really good in an arena, too. It’s uplifting and fairly energetic.”

This year’s guest skaters are Alisa Korneva and Kieran MacDonald, 2024 Canadian Junior Free Dance national skating competitors.
